Hiking on the cliffs.

Skaros Rock is the large rock formation located in Imerovigli which is the highest village on the cliff side.

Skaros was inhabited in medieval times and is one of the five fortified settlements in Santorini and the most important one as it offered protection from pirates.

​

A path a few meters away from the church of St George leads downwards to Skaros. Keep following the steps till you reach the Chapel of Agios Ioannis Katiforis… an ancient chapel that affords excellent views of Oia and Caldera.

As you keep moving down, the view gets better and you will see huge chunks of red and black rocks with ruins of old houses interspersed between them…
